  5. Welcome to "Legends 4", just one of many full length movies,
  6. and interactive adventures available from New Machine Publishing.
  7.  
  8. Please glance over these paragraphs, and if you have any questions (about
  9. the functionality!) call us.

  12. INSTALLATION:
  13.  
  14. This version of "Legends 4" requires Apple's QuickTime for Windows,
  15. which is included on the disc.
  16.  
  17. To install, run the INSTALL.EXE program in the \PC directory on the
  18. CD-ROM.  The installation is completely noninvasive and consists only of
  19. creating a program group and icons in the Program Manager which point to
  20. the CD-ROM drive applications.
  21.  
  22. Simply click on the "Legends 4" icon in the Interotica program group
  23. to start.  Allow 5-15 seconds to load.

  26. YOUR NEW ICONS:
  27.  
  28. Hit the Right arrow button to begin playing chapter one of the movie.
  29. This is the chapter advance button.  To go back to a previous chapter
  30. hit the Left arrow button.  There are 6 chapters in the movie.
  31. The chapter currently playing is indicated in the little display
  32. window to the left of the Left button.
  33.  
  34. The middle button with the speaker diagram is the mute button.  Use it
  35. to toggle the sound on and off.
  36.  
  37. The movie controllers at the base of the movie screen are used to pause,
  38. skip ahead, loop, resize, step through individual movie frames, control
  39. the movie volume, fast-forward, or "super-slow-mo"!
  40.  
  41. To hide the movie controls while viewing, just click on the "flipped-
  42. down panel" below the controls, indicated by a blue triangle below
  43. the fast-forward button.  You may also click anywhere on the active
  44. movie screen.
  45.  
  46. The red "!" button is the panic button.  Hit it to hide and minimize
  47. the program's window.  Double-Click on the program's icon in the lower
  48. left side of the screen to restore the window.

  50. The round Up arrow button is the Eject button.  Use it to end the movie
  51. and quit the program.
  52.  
  53. The Quicktime MOVIE PLAYER is left in your Interotica program group.
  54. Use this to view any *.mov files on the CD-ROM individually.

  57. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  58.  
  59. To use Seymore Butts you should have a 386 or better CPU with 8-bit (256
  60. color) or better graphics, a sound card, Microsoft Windows 3.1 and DOS 5.0,
  61. and a mouse.  Your PC should have at least 4MB of RAM, and a CD-ROM drive.
  62.  
  63. For viewing digital video a 16-bit (32,000) color video adapter is
  64. recommended.  An 8-bit display also looks good.  The release of QuickTime
  65. for Windows included with Seymore Butts is optimized for 8- and 16-bit
  66. video.

  68. Be sure Windows is using a display driver that will provide 256 colors
  69. (or higher).  This product is not designed for 16-color displays (eg., the
  70. standard Windows VGA driver).  If your colors look bad, run Windows Setup
  71. to install the display driver provided by your video card manufacturer that
  72. supports 256 colors (any resolution). If you don't have much video memory,
  73. select "640x480 256 color" in Windows Setup.
  74.  
  75. Certain high-resolution video cards may require updated driver software
  76. for correct operation of QuickTime for Windows.  Please contact your
  77. video board manufacturer to see if newer driver software is available.
  78.  
  79. ATI's "Crystal Fonts" mode is not supported.  Change the Video driver to
  80. 1024x768 small fonts, or use a lower resolution.
  81.  
  82. Problems are reported using Sony's CDU-31A CD-ROM drive which ships with
  83. many Gateway multimedia systems.  This drive is Multi-media PC ("MPC")
  84. certified yet Sony admits it "has problems" displaying Quicktime.  Sony's
  85. other CD-ROM drives work well (because they are "made differently").  If
  86. you have problems with the CDU-31A please let Sony and Gateway know of your
  87. dissatisfaction with its being sold as an MPC drive.
  88. Our photo disks (non-video products) work fine with the drive.

  90. NOTE: COLOR CONFLICTS can be caused by an incompatible high-color wall-
  91. paper.  If the program loads up in the wrong colors, simply quit, set the
  92. wallpaper to [none] in Windows|Control-Panel|Desktop and run again.
  93. Mouse clicking on any active movie screen turns the sound on or off.  So if
  94. you are missing audio, first try clicking on an active movie screen.
  95.  
  96. If you have no audio card you will experience places in the game that seem
  97. stalled.  This is because a voice is being played.  Just wait 15 seconds
  98. for any voice track to finish and prompts to appear.
